RALLI

For lidt over 2 år siden startede en gruppe engelske forskere YouTube-kanalen RALLI campaign. Formålet med kampagnen og med YouTube-kanalen er at informere om sprogvanskeligheder og især at informere om SLI (specific language impairment) eller på dansk ‘specifikke sprogforstyrrelser’. I spidsen for kampagnen er professor Dorothy Bishop fra Oxford Universitet.

Learning language and loving it

Endnu et Hanen-kursus er veloverstået!

Denne gang var det Learning language and loving it, som er Hanens intro-kursus for ikke-logopæder. Kurset handler om vejledning af daginstitutionspersonale i forhold til sprogstimulering. Rigtigt mange overlap fra kurset om To skal der til og rigtigt mange nye aspekter at forholde sig til.

Bogen er endnu ikke oversat til dansk, men lur mig, om ikke den blir det!

Det har for nyligt været fremme i dagspressen, at det ikke bare er to-sprogede eller socialt dårligt stillede børn, som har “sprogkvaler”. Hvem er de børn, som tilsyneladende “uden god grund” har sprogvanskeligheder? Ved vi noget om, hvad der karakteriserer dem, og hvad der eventuelt kan gøres for at forbedre deres sproglige færdigheder?

Danske børnehavebørn har sprogvanskeligheder

I Politiken d. 27.  marts 2012 http://politiken.dk/indland/article1581984.ece kan man bl.a. læse følgende:

1.100 københavnske femårige børnehavebørn er blevet sprogvurderet af pædagogerne. 655 af dem havde så store sprogvanskeligheder, at kommunen vurderede, der var behov for at sætte ind. 10 procent af de børn var etnisk danske. Tallene overrasker børne- og ungdomsborgmester Anne Vang (S).

How does deliberate practice work? A dutiful daily commitment to practice is not enough. Long hours of practice are not enough. And noodling around is definitely not enough. Deliberate practice requires effort and is not inherently enjoyable. The secret of deliberate practice? Relentlessly focusing on our weaknesses and inventing new ways to root them out. Results are carefully monitored, ideally with the help of a coach or teacher, and become grist for the next round of ruthless self-evaluation.

Parents as Speech Therapists

Traditionally, speech therapy with preschoolers involved parents bringing their child to a speech-language pathologist at a clinic. After an assessment, if the speech-language pathologist recommended it, the parent would bring the child for regular speech therapy. In this case, the sessions would be conducted by the speech-language pathologist, who would use specific techniques and strategies to improve the child’s communication. The parent would sit and watch the therapy, either in the room or behind a 2-way mirror. After the session, the parent would be given activities to practice with the child at home.
